The Florida Gators picked up their 14th commitment of the Class of 2025 on Sunday evening from a big instate prospect.
Receiver Naeshaun Montgomery (6-1, 185, Miami, FL. Central) committed to Florida over LSU and Penn State on Sunday.
Billy Napier’s background of coaching receivers paired with the success Billy Gonzales has had with the position was big to Montgomery.
“It was great just knowing as a head coach he knows how to develop receivers as well as coach Gonzales, and I really like the history they have with all the receivers,” Montgomery said.
During his official visit to Gainesville, Montgomery had a chance to visit with DJ Lagway which was a big draw for the receiver.
“It means a lot, mainly because without a good quarterback you really can’t do nothing as a receiver,” Montgomery said. “Every time I met with DJ he really just said he wants me and he wants me to be his X receiver.”
The constant communication that the staff had with Montgomery was a big key in helping gain a commitment from the receiver.
“Really like their communication. They never stop texting me, they check on my family, and that’s really like my main thing,” Montgomery said.
Montgomery is the third receiver commitment for the Gators in the class as he joins Vernell Brown III and Joshua Moore.
