WR Easton Royal flips his commitment from Texas to the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators picked up a huge commitment on Sunday afternoon when they flipped one of the top players in the country.

Receiver Easton Royal (5-11, 214, New Orleans, LA. Brother Martin) flipped his commitment from Texas to Florida just a day after visiting Gainesville.

“Dreams to reality,” Royal said on social media.

Royal who was just on campus in Gainesville on Saturday said the development and the amount of coaches at his position was a big plus for Florida.

“I think Florida’s development is really strong,” Royal said. “Out of the three schools, they’re they only school to have like 3 different receiver coaches. You can learn a different thing from each coach. The best thing about it is that there’s no jealousy in the room.”

The New Orleans native had been committed to Texas for over a year now but had continued to visit Gainesville and he liked the energy of Jon Sumrall.

“All of the staff, they’ve been telling me how much I fit the program,” he said on the message from the staff. “They like me as a player and what I can do physically but just my character and like how I really can fit into the program. Coach Sumrall, I think he’s probably the most energetic coach out of the three schools, and I like how he has some Louisiana in him. He’s very hype, he knows how to wake you up in the morning.”

Royal is the 26th commitment of the Class of 2027 for the Gators and is the fourth receiver in the class as he joins Elias Pearl, Anthony Jennings, and Tramond Collins at the positon.
