Woods likes the people around the Florida Gators program

Last week several out-of-state prospects were in Gainesville to visit the Florida Gators as they go through spring practice.

Defensive end/outside linebacker Jayden Woods (6-3, 240, Shawnee, KS. Mill Valley) was on campus and while he didn’t see practice, he was able to talk to the coaching staff.

“It was a great visit,” Woods said of his visit to Florida last week. “I got to meet everyone and tour the facilities and meetings. I unfortunately wasn’t able to stay long enough to see practice.”

Outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson spent the most time with Woods during the visit and explained to him what the Gators liked about his game.

“I talked to Coach Peterson, I thought he was a great guy,” he said on the coach he spent the most time with. “He likes my skill set to play outside linebacker and my pass-rushing skills. He likes my football IQ and he sees me being to play the Jack in the defense.”

Head coach Billy Napier also spent time with Woods during the visit and he made a nice first impression on the Kansas native.

“We had a great talk about the recruiting process,” Woods said of his talks with Napier. “He told me to be observant during the process. He’s a great guy and coach.”

Woods currently has a top 13 that includes the Gators and he says he has interest in the Gators because of last week’s visit.

“I’m pretty interested in them,” he said of his interest in Florida. “I really liked the people I met down there.”
