Womack says the Florida Gators are making “progress” in his recruitment

Last Saturday was the last junior day of this recruiting period and several big prospects were on campus from out-of-state programs.

Defensive back Bralan Womack (6-0, 195, Flowood, MS. Hartfield Academy) was on campus and interacted with several players.

“Second time here, it was great,” Womack said of his visit to Florida. “Great player and coach interaction, not something you see at a lot of junior days or visits in general. We got to hear from a lot of mid-year enrollees like Vernell Brown and some other fifth-year seniors.”

As soon as new defensive backs coach Vinnie Sunseri was hired at Florida, Womack was quick to set up a visit to Gainesville.

“Me and Coach Vinnie [Sunseri] have a very tight relationship,” he said on his relationship with the new Gators assistant. “I’m not going to say he’s the full reason why I came here but he’s definitely made an impact.”

Sunseri and Womack have had a great relationship for a while now and the defensive back believes in the new defensive backs coach.

“Just the path that he has had, he has played and coached all the levels,” Womack said of Sunseri. “He’s coached under one of the greatest, he coached under one of the great’s sons. If anyone knows how to get a player to the NFL then it’s him.”

The Gators’ coaching staff had a simple message for Womack about coming in and working hard to earn playing time.

“Just come in and do me,” he said on how Florida says he would fit into the program. “They’re big on the weight room and I’m big on the weight room myself. It’s something that was programmed into me in high school is to stay in the weight room. Recovery too, we preach the best ability is availability, so you just being there every day and every week gives you a better chance for playing time.”

Alabama, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Texas A&M were named Womack’s top four recently but he says the Gators are making a move for him.

“They’re around the middle,” Womack said on where Florida stands for him. “I have to get back for a couple more visits. They’re in the middle and they’ve made progress, and it has been a nice week getting to interact with the coaches. My dad is a Gator fan.”

Next up for Womack will be more visits and he says a return to Gainesville is very possible.

“More than likely,” he said on if he will visit in the spring. “Too soon to know but they have a shot at an official visit. It’s day by day.”
