Wilson says the Swamp’s atmosphere was a highlight

The Florida Gators hosted prospects for the first time in over year when the team kicked off the season against FAU in the Swamp two weeks ago.

2023 linebacker Raylen Wilson (6-2, 213, Tallahassee, FL. Lincoln) was one of those on campus for the game and he enjoyed the Swamp.

“It was good, I really liked the energy that the Gators had in the stadium,” Wilson said of his visit to Florida for the FAU game. “I went on tour, did a photo shoot, ate and then watched the game.”

Wilson says the highlight of the trip was getting to see the crowd inside the Swamp for a Saturday night game.

“That was probably the most exciting part,” he said on the atmosphere in the Swamp. “That energy is something else, that was a highlight.”

The 2023 linebacker watched the Gators defense closely and Wilson liked how the front seven played.

“I liked how the defensive line and the linebackers played,” Wilson said on his thoughts on the Gators’ defense. “I liked how they were getting off blocks and getting to the ball together.”

Linebackers coach Christian Robinson has explained to Wilson just how he would fit into the Gators defense if he came to Gainesville.

“Coach C-Rob and Coach [Dan] Mullen,” he said on the coaches he talks to from Florida. “He [Robinson] says that he wants to coach me, that’s mostly what he says. He wants me to play like #51 [Ventrell Miller] plays. We talk at least every day.”

Florida is one of many schools to have contacted Wilson since September first but the linebacker says the Gators are high in his list of schools.

“They’re up there in my top schools, I’m very interested,” Wilson said on his interest in Florida. “Really since they’ve been able to talk to me, everyone who has offered me has been recruiting me hard.”
