Saturday was an opportunity for several top prospects to visit Gainesville to watch the Florida Gators take on Alabama in front of a sold-out Swamp.
Safety Kamari Wilson (6-1, 195, Fort Pierce, FL. IMG) made his first trip to Gainesville for a game on Saturday and was impressed by the fans in attendance.
“The visit was great,” Wilson said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “The atmosphere was great. It was like no other. That was the most fans that I’ve ever seen. It was just great.”
Wilson liked how the Gators’ defense played despite having a bad first quarter against a good Alabama offense.
“The defense played great,” he said of Florida’s defense. “They played with a lot of intensity. I liked how they played aggressive, fast and physical.”
Defensive backs coach Wesley McGriff has been the main contact for Wilson with the Gators and the message is simple from the Gators to the safety.
“Coach [Wesley] McGriff,” Wilson said on the coach he talks to from Florida. “How I can be versatile, and he can put me anywhere on the field. At safety, right or left. He sees me playing like Trey Dean. The Trey Dean position.”
Wilson plans to early enroll in school in January and sign in December so time is ticking down for the safety and he knows of two visits he will take before making a decision.
“Georgia,” he said on other visits he wants to take. “I probably will [officially] visit [Florida] in December.”
