Williams says the Florida Gators made a move in his recruitment

On Thursday night, several prospects made their second and third trips to Gainesville this spring to watch the Florida Gators’ spring game.

Receiver Hykeem Williams (6-3, 195, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Stranahan) was on campus for his second time on Thursday and was surprised by the team.

“Them boys was live,” Williams said of his visit to Florida. “I didn’t know they were that good, I’m not going to lie to you. Them boys are big; they have some pretty good receivers, and they have a good quarterback. They have a good team.”

Williams watched the Gators’ offense closely on Thursday and he likes how Billy Napier runs his offense.

“I just got to see the game,” he said on what all he was able to do during the visit. “They didn’t throw the ball a lot, but I like the way they move around and how physical they are.”

While on campus, Williams spent a lot of time around receivers coach Keary Colbert and analyst Benedick Hypolite.

“I was chilling with Coach Dub [Benedick Hypolite] and Coach Colbert, that was it,” Williams said. “They were just chilling; we weren’t really talking about football. I’ve known him [Benedick] for a while now, it’s a good connection.”

Williams has taken notice of Colbert’s history of coaching the position and he believes he could fit into what the Gators run.

“They have a lot of big receivers, I think I could fit well,” he said on how he thinks he fits into Florida’s offense. “He [Colbert] knows how to coach up big receivers like myself so I’m pretty sure it would be great.”

Heading into the spring, the Gators were way behind in Williams recruitment but he says Florida has made a move for him.

“They’ve actually moved up, this was my first time seeing them in action,” Williams said on where Florida stands for him. “They have a good spot on my list now with Texas A&M, Georgia, Alabama, Pitt, and Florida State.”
