Williams has the Florida Gators in his top three schools

Last weekend, the Florida Gators hosted several prospects from the state of Texas on official visits including one prospect who was on campus for the first time.

Offensive lineman Ory Williams (6-6, 320, San Marcos, TX. High) was on campus and learned a lot about the school in his first trip to Gainesville.

“This visit was really good,” Williams said of his visit to Florida. “I learned a lot about the school, I learned a lot about Coach [Billy] Napier, Coach [Rob] Sale, and Coach [Darnell] Stapleton. I really like it, they’re definitely one of my top schools and I’m coming back on July 29th.”

This was the first time for Williams to meet Napier in person and the head coach made a big impression on him about the culture around the team.

“It was good,” he said on meeting with Napier. “His message to me was that it’s a family here and they’re going to get me to where I want to be.”

Offensive line coaches Rob Sale and Darnell Stapleton both spent a lot of time with Williams talking football but also things off the field.

“That was a good, I got a better feel for them,” Williams said on meeting with Sale and Stapleton. “I got to know them better, they’re real genuine they seem with the words they say and what they talk about.”

Sale and Stapleton explained to Williams just how he would fit into the line and what they want him to improve on.

“When they broke it down, they want to better my pass set at left tackle,” he said on the message from Sale and Stapleton. “Better my run game, better my knowledge on the secondary for the backfield.”

This first visit to Gainesville was a good one for Williams as he says the Gators are now one of his top schools.

“Definitely up there, top three,” he said on where Florida stands for him. “I’m looking at a lot of schools, but I’ve already narrowed it down to a top three. LSU, Georgia, and Florida, but I still have a couple more visits to look at.”

Several things went into why Williams has the Gators in his top three now but the plan on how they can improve Williams’ game was big.

“Just the love they showed,” Williams said on why Florida is in his top three. “The development plan that I see that they had for me, not a lot of schools have that for me. That means that I’m a priority for them and they really want me.”

Next up for Williams will be more official visits and then a decision will likely come during his senior year.

“Georgia, LSU, and Texas A&M,” Williams said on official visits. “A&M is next week; LSU is the following week and then Georgia is the last week. I’ll most likely take some in the fall. I’m probably going to make my decision in the mid-season.”
