Williams enjoyed the Florida Gators atmosphere on Saturday night

The Swamp was loud and energized for the Florida Gators home opener on Saturday and several of the recruits in attendance took notice to the atmosphere.

2021 running back Anthony Williams (6-0, 185, Altamonte Springs, FL. Lake Brantley) was one of the prospects who watched the Gators on Saturday and he enjoyed the visit.

“The visit was great,” Williams said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “I got to go in the locker room and enjoy the win with the guys. The atmosphere was ridiculous, I loved it and the Gators stepped on the gas and played great.”

While on campus, Williams got the chance to talk to a few of the Gators coaches who had a general message for him.

“I talked to Coach Jamar Chaney and Coach [Greg] Knox,” he said on the coaches he spoke to on Saturday. “Their message was to keep working hard and be a team leader and good luck on my upcoming game this week.”

Running backs coach Greg Knox explained to Williams on Saturday night why the Gators like his game and want him in Gainesville.

“Just that I bring a lot to the table and how I can help the program,” Williams said of the message from Knox. “He said he likes the family in that Orange and Blue.”

Williams paid close attention to the Gators offense on Saturday and he feels like he can make the adjustment to what Florida likes to run on offense.

“I liked the offense, they made big plays and I think I can fit it by running the ball and catching and maybe even special teams,” he said on how he thinks he fits into the offense. “My school runs the triple option but it would definitely be easy and fun to switch to their RPO style of play.”

The running back picked up an offer from the Gators this summer and he says he has a lot of interest in Florida for a few reasons.

“I have strong interest in the program and I love the atmosphere in the Swamp and the fans” Williams said of his interest in Florida. “Their football program is always moving forward and improving. They have a great academic program too. “

The Gators aren’t the only school after Williams as several schools are recruiting him hard and a few others are just starting to recruit him.

“Florida and Duke as of right now but schools like Syracuse and Florida State are messaging me,” he said on schools recruiting him hard. “I don’t have any visits planned as of right now but I’m in the process of figuring it all out around my work schedule.”
