The Florida Gators picked up their 13th commitment for the 2021 class on Friday night when the Gators picked up an instate commitment.
2021 tight end Gage Wilcox (6-4, 228, Tampa, FL. Jefferson) committed to Florida over Alabama and Georgia on Friday night.
Wilcox has visited Florida several times in the past and likes the Gators offense that he witnessed in 2020.
“I really liked the offense a lot,” Wilcox said last fall. “I liked how they used their tight ends and liked how they moved them around in certain formations. I like the tight end position is important in their offense.”
The Tampa product has enjoyed getting around the staff and he likes the feeling he gets while in town.
“I fall in love with the Swamp more and more as I get up there,” he said. “I love it and I can’t wait to get to know everyone even more.
The tight end is the first commit for new tight ends coach Tim Brewster who just recently started recruiting Wilcox after Larry Scott left the position to be a head coach.
Wilcox is the 7th commit on the offensive side of the ball for the Gators and he joins quarterback Carlos Del Rio, athlete Brashard Smith and receivers Trevonte Rucker and Daejon Reynolds as skill players in the class.
