Wiggins impressed by the “incredible energy” in the Swamp

On Saturday, several of the Florida Gators’ top targets in the Class of 2025 were on campus to watch the Gators beat Tennessee.

2025 defensive lineman Jalen Wiggins (6-4, 245, Tallahassee, FL. James Rickards) was on campus and got to talk with head coach Billy Napier multiple times.

“The visit was great,” Wiggins said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “We were able to eat before the game, watch the Gator Walk and talk with Coach Napier as they were walking. We watched the pregame warmup on the sideline and sat in the endzone seats. After the game, I got to go in the locker room when the players came back and then we went on the field and got to speak with Coach Napier.”

Wiggins was impressed by the fans and the atmosphere inside the Swamp as the crowd noise played a big part in the win.

“The atmosphere and energy of the crowd was incredible from start to finish of the game,” he said of the crowd. “It was extremely loud making the game much more exciting.”

Napier spent a lot of time after the game talking to each prospect and Wiggins appreciated the time, he got with the head coach.

“He said they were building and working towards new things with the team and the facility and the stadium,” Wiggins said on the message from Napier. “I felt it was very important to me that he took the time out to talk to us in the small amounts personally because it shows growth and how confident he is.”

Defensive line coach Sean Spencer also talked with Wiggins during the trip and explained to him how he would fit into the Gators’ defense.

“The coaches said the night demonstrated how dominant the defensive line is,” he said on the message from Sean Spencer. “They see me as a key part of the 25 class, playing as an edge/interior as well. I think I would fit into the defense as an edge rusher.”

After the visit, Wiggins says the visit helped the Gators chances with him as he likes several things about Florida.

“Florida has been high in my recruitment,” Wiggins said on where Florida stands in his recruitment. “The visit is what I knew they could bring to the table to be enjoyable, and I liked the fight in the team and the competitiveness.”
