The Florida Gators coaching staff has hosted a lot of prospects so far this spring including several top-notch receivers on campus.
Receiver Creed Whittemore (6-0, 175, Gainesville, FL. Buchholz) made the short drive over to campus two weeks ago where he was able to hang out with the coaching staff.
“It was good, I basically just watched film and walked around with Coach KC [Keary Colbert] the whole time,” Whittemore said on his visit to Florida. “I really like Coach KC; it went really well visiting with him and stuff. I will definitely be back.”
Whittemore had some insight into what Colbert and head coach Billy Napier were like because of his brother Trent but the 2023 receiver liked his first meeting with those coaches.
“With a brother being there, you know a little bit but he’s awesome,” he said on his first impressions of Keary Colbert and the staff. “I think he’s very personable and he lets you be yourself on the field. He’s not too demanding on what he wants. Coach Napier seems like a guy who has a schedule and he’s going to get done what needs to get done.”
Receivers coach Keary Colbert explained to Whittemore during the visit how he would fit into the offense and why he’s needed at Florida.
“Florida has a lot of tall receivers and Coach KC mentioned that and that he needs a few smaller guys,” Whittemore said on the message from Colbert. “To run the plays, they want to run, they need some smaller guys, and he sees me fitting in there.”
Whittemore had an offer from the last coaching staff but hasn’t received one yet from this staff but he says they explained to him when that could take place.
“They just want to see me run some routes because all I have is quarterback film,” he said on the message about a potential offer. “They want to see me; they love my film and stuff so after they see me run some routes we will see. They know that I’m a great player, but they need to see me run some routes and catch the ball.”
