White taking in everything Hevesy has taught him

Two weeks ago at Friday Night Lights, the Florida Gators had most of their 2019 commits on campus helping the staff recruiting.

Offensive line commit Ethan White (6-5, 315, Clearwater, FL. Superior Collegiate Academy) was one of those on campus as he was just trying to learn more from offensive line coach John Hevesy.

“I saw that all of the other commits were coming out so I thought it was a good time to talk to the other Florida players,” White said on why he decided to visit Florida for Friday Night. “Just another chance to see how Coach [John] Hevesy works, what I learned here from when he’s doing during individuals from camps is that I can go back and teach other players at my high school and apply to my own game.”

This is the third time for White to see Hevesy in action and he’s learning a lot about how the veteran line coach goes about teaching his techniques.

“It’s very technical,” he said on Hevesy’s coaching style. “It’s always piece by piece and when you put it all together that’s what makes it work.”

White is taking all of what Hevesy says and does in as he hopes to take it back to Clearwater and make both he and his teammates better.

“Most of what I do in high school is what I see at other colleges especially what I learned from Coach Hevesy,” White said on taking those things back to his game and working on them in practice. “When I was here for spring practice, when I was here watching him that’s what I apply to my own game.”

Despite being committed for a few months now, White says that he still talks with the coaching staff a lot.

“I’m talking to them a couple times a week, it’s talking to Coach [Cordell] Landers, Coach Hevesy, Coach [Dan] Mullen and Coach [Christian] Robinson,” White said of his talks with Florida since committing. “Just talking, I recently had a minor injury so they’re just checking on me and making sure I’m going to be right to play this season.”

When White was on campus for Friday Night Lights, he spent most of his time with Hevesy as the coach gave another message to the Gators commit.

“I spent most of the day with Coach Hevesy,” he said on the coach he was with during Friday Night Lights. “The message has been the same, to go 100 percent in everything you do and try to be the best in everything you do. He said right now to just focus on intensity in high school and when I get to college, he will teach what he needs to teach me.”

Also while on campus, White spent a large amount of time with the other Florida commits and also recruiting other targets with a general message.

“Just football in general, what games we are coming to and all that,” he said on what he and the other commits talk about. “We’re talking to other players and telling them this is the place to be right now, it’s an up and coming program and it’s not going to be average like it has been. Coach Mullen is going to get it back to dominating the SEC.”

INSIDERS TAKE: White said he plans to be at the Gators first game of the year and come to as many home games as he can this fall. He says that the only visits he plans to take is to Florida.
