Westphal solid with the Florida Gators and plans to visit soon

The Florida Gators have 22 commits in the Class of 2024 and all of them are watching to see how the Gators will improve this season.

Offensive line commit Fletcher Westphal (6-8, 335, Leesburg, VA. Tuscarora) couldn’t watch the game on Thursday but he believes the Gators will improve going forward.

“I didn’t get to watch it because I had a game myself but from what I’ve heard and seen it looked like a lot of first game mistakes,” Westphal said. “They have a great coaching staff that’s going to turn them around and have them improved for McNesse and Tennessee in two weeks. They’re a young team.

Offensive line coach Rob Sale talks with Westphal a lot and he has talked with his high school coach about how to help the lineman improve this year.

“I talk to Coach Sale a lot,” he said on his talks with Florida. “He has a great relationship with my offensive line coach so he’s leaving it up to him to work with me this season and get me prepared for college.”

Sale has explained to Westphal just how the Gators will use him on the line and how he will fit into the program.

“Strictly tackle,” Westphal said on where Florida wants him at. “They have said tackle throughout my recruitment and that’s pretty much what everyone else recruited me at.”

The Class of 2024 commits has a group chat going and they believe they’re the class to help the Gators get back to where they once were.

“Yeah this 2024 and 2025 class are going to be the ones to get Florida back on top,” he said on the message from the commits. “This is Coach Napier’s first full year of being able to recruit the entire class and we’re all committed to going into the program knowing that we have work to do to help rebuild the program.”

Westphal announced this summer that his recruitment was shut down and he plans to be in Gainesville to visit Florida this fall.

“Just to Florida,” Westphal said on visits. “I plan to be down there twice; I will be there for the Tennessee game and the Arkansas game.”
