Webb now has the Florida Gators as one of his top teams

The Florida Gators staff hosted several top in-state prospects on campus on Thursday including several guys from the Jacksonville area.

Running back Treyaun Webb (6-1, 205, Jacksonville, FL. Trinity Christian) was on campus and had a good time while on the visit.

“It was great,” Webb said of his visit to Florida on Thursday. “I was able to meet the staff, talk to the staff, tour the facilities and I got a sneak peek of the new facility they’re building. I got to sit through the meetings and talk with Coach [Billy] Napier.”

This was the first time for Webb to meet the new coaching staff in person and he came away impressed by them.

“They’re a great a staff,” he said of his impressions of the staff. “They have a great championship mindset, great people and they’re passionate about doing what’s best for their players and make it feel like a family. They practice what they preach and they’re high tempo guys.”

Running backs coach Jabbar Juluke has been the main coach recruiting Webb early on and he made it known that Webb was wanted in Gainesville.

“He said that they need me and that I’m a priority for them,” Webb said on the message from Juluke to him during the visit. “He said they’re going to put a fence around the state of Florida so that none of the top talent leave the state. They feel like with all of the Florida guys on the roster that they can go win a Natty.”

Head coach Billy Napier also expressed a big need for Webb and explained to him how he would be used at Florida.

“His whole thing was that I’m a special player and that they have to have me,” he said on the message from Napier. “He sees me as an all-around player for them.”

The Gators were on the outside looking in for Webb under the previous coaching staff, but the running back says the Gators are near the top for him now.

“If they aren’t the team to beat, they’re top two,” Webb said on where Florida stands for him. “I’ve always loved Florida, my cousin played there and it’s close to home, but I was really never recruited by the old staff, they didn’t really recruit in-state talent. They’re going to recruit instate talent now so it all lines up and makes it the perfect fit.”

Next up for Webb will be a trip to North Carolina this weekend but the Jacksonville native plans to return to Gainesville soon.

“Oh yeah definitely, I’m trying to figure it out, maybe for the spring game,” he said on when he will return to Florida for another visit.
