Wayne has early interest in the Florida Gators following last week’s offer

Over the last few weeks, the 2023 recruiting board has really expanded, as the Florida Gators coaching staff and recruiting department have been busy offering new prospects.

2023 defensive end Jayden Wayne (6-5, 240, Tacoma, WA. Lincoln) was one of the guys to pick up an offer last week after he talking the coaching staff.

“Coach [Keiwan] Ratliff did,” Wayne said on the coach who offered him. “He said they’ve been watching me for a while and say I could play a lot of different positions for them.”

Wayne was caught off guard by the offer last week but says an offer from Florida is one he holds high.

“It means a lot to me,” he said on the offer. “I like Florida, it’s a big one for me. I didn’t know it was coming.”

Ratliff did explain to Wayne why the Gators wanted to offer him and where they could see him playing in Gainesville.

“They see me as an outside linebacker or defensive end depending on the down, they also think I could play tight end,” Wayne said on where Florida wants him to play. “They think I’m really good but say I haven’t even scratched the surface on my potential, they want to develop me to be the best.”

Wayne has visited the Sunshine state several times in the past and that has him interested in the Gators now.

“I’m very interested,” he said of his interest in Florida. “I’ve been there several times with my family for Universal Studios, FBU championships, and my freshman All-American game. I liked it there.”

Several other big schools have already offered Wayne and are recruiting the 2023 prospect hard heading into his junior year.

“Notre Dame, Clemson, Washington, Notre Dame, USC, Penn State, and Colorado,” Wayne said on other schools recruiting him hard.
