WATCH: Florida and Missouri brawl before halftime

Since the Missouri Tigers entered the SEC in 2012 the Tigers and Gators have played weird football games. Add in Halloween and a full moon and this was bound to happen.

Dan Mullen was already unhappy with a handful of decisions from the SEC officiating crew on Saturday night, but a late hit on Kyle Trask with no time left in the first half was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

In the video below it appears that Missouri defensive lineman Trajan Jeffcoat hits Trask shortly after Trask released the pass but definitely goes high on the Florida quarterback.

Florida’s offensive linemen responded, with several players pushing and shoving before all hell broke loose.

Florida defensive lineman Zach Carter was in the middle of the scrum and was seen throwing punches. Carter wasn’t the only person throwing punches, several Missouri players’ hands were flying in his direction, including defensive lineman Tre Williams. Both Carter and Williams were ejected, along with Florida linebacker Antwuan Powell. Both Florida and Missouri were given team unsportsmanlike penalties.

Gator Country has reached out to the SEC for a ruling on what the two ejections mean for Florida moving forward. The Gators play Georgia a week from tonight in Jacksonville.

Dan Mullen had to be restrained multiple times by members of his staff. After meeting with officials cooler heads seemed to prevail before Mullen came back out for a curtain call to pump up the 17,000 in attendance.

He was able to play baseball in college but quickly realized there isn’t much of a market for short, slow outfielders that hit around the Mendoza line. Wanting to continue with sports in some capacity he studied journalism at the University of Central Florida. Nick got his first start in the business as an intern for a website covering all things related to the NFL draft before spending two seasons covering the Florida football team at Bleacher Report. That job led him to GatorCountry.
