The Florida Gators picked up another big transfer on Thursday when a former Washington defensive back committed to Florida.

Washington defensive back transfer Asa Turner committed to Florida after he visited Gainesville over the weekend.

Turner will be a sixth-year senior next year and he has played in 43 games with Washington but missed most of the 2023 season due to injuries.

The defensive back is very familiar with defensive backs coach Will Harris as Harris coached him at Washington before the assistant coach went to the NFL.

Turner was on the All Pac-12 third team in the preseason for 2023 after a really good 2022 season where he had two interceptions and 52 tackles.

Now that Turner has committed to Florida, he will enroll school and go through spring practice where he’s expected to compete for playing time in a secondary that’s very young for the Gators.

Over the last few days, the Gators have landed commitments from defensive tackle D’Antre Robinson who left Texas and defensive back Jameer Grimsley who left Alabama, both of those guys were members of the Class of 2024.

Turner likely will be the last transfer addition to the team for spring practice as school has started in Gainesville.
