Warren excited about his recent Florida Gators offer

Last week, the Florida Gators coaching staff offered a few 2021 prospects including a JUCO prospect on Thursday.

JUCO defensive back De’Jahn Warren (6-0, 175, Hyattsville, MD. Lackawanna JUCO) heard the news from the Gators early on Thursday morning.
“Coach [Torrian] Gray, the defensive backs coach did,” Warren said on which coach from Florida offered him. “Honestly, I woke up to a text message from him, that was the first thing I seen. Before he offered, he asked me for my transcripts and he said my grades were in good shape and he offered.”

Warren was shocked to hear the news from Gray as the defensive back coach was the first one to reach out to Warren on Thursday morning.

“I was shocked actually, for me to wake up to it, it wasn’t expected,” he said on what the offer means to him. “I was excited about it and happy about it.”

Gray didn’t go into detail about how Warren would fit into Florida’s defense but the two plan to talk again soon.

“He said he loved my film,” Warren said on the message from Gray. “This was the first time we’ve talked in a little while but he said we would be communicating more soon.”

Warren does know a future Gator who is good friends with the JUCO defensive back and he shared in Warren’s excitement on Thursday.

“Mordecai is my friend,” he said of Gators signee Mordecai McDaniel. “We were both excited, he called me as soon as he seen that I got the offer. We’ve talked about playing together before, he was excited that I got an offer from them.”

The JUCO defensive back does know a few things about the Gators program and their history on defense.

“I know that they produce a lot of defensive backs and send a lot of them to the league,” Warren said on what he knows about Florida. “I use to watch Vernon Hargreaves a lot.”

Next up Warren wants to visit Gainesville as he wants to see what his good friend has told him about the Florida program.

“I’m going to try too,” he said on if he wants to visit Florida. “I want to see what Mordecai was telling me about which is how beautiful it is and how the weather is good.”

The Gators have several other schools to compete with for Warren who knows when he plans to sign.

“Penn State, Georgia and Maryland,” Warren said on schools recruiting him hard. “I know I’m signing in December but I will decide whenever I feel like I know where I want to go.”
