Florida continued to bolster its wide receiver room Wednesday afternoon as Wake Forest transfer Micah Mays committed to the Gators.
Mays has combined for 34 receptions, 520 yards and four touchdowns across the last two seasons with the Demon Deacons. As a redshirt sophomore in 2025, Mays set career highs in receptions (18), yards (302) and average yards per catch (16.8).
Mays ranks as the 160th overall prospect in the transfer portal and the 40th receiver.
The 6’2, 193-pound receiver will have two years of eligibility remaining.
A four-star prospect in the 2023 class, the Palm Beach Gardens native attended The Benjamin School, where he was a three-sport athlete in track, basketball, and football.
Mays won gold at Florida’s 1A track meet as a junior in both the 400-meter dash and triple jump. Mays also placed 3rd in the high jump (6’1.5”) at states while anchoring a 4×400 squad that captured a regional title a few weeks prior. Mays clocked a personal-best 400-meter dash (47.52) and triple jump (45’11.75”) at Florida’s 1A meet. As a sophomore, Mays was a state qualifier in the 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, high jump and triple jump.
That track background clearly translates to the football field. Mays covers ground in a hurry, flashing an explosive first step off the line of scrimmage and elite open-field speed. He’s also a proven vertical threat with six career receptions of 20-plus air yards.
Mays spent most of the 2025 season deployed as an outside receiver (74% of snaps), while also showing versatility with 26% of his snaps coming from the slot.
Mays joins a wide receiver room that consists of Dallas Wilson, Vernell Brown III, Bailey Stockton, TJ Abrams, and freshman Davian Groce, Justin Williams, and Marquez Daniel.
