Upshaw loves the ability of the Florida Gators coaching staff

The Florida Gators coaching staff continue to host prospects on campus on an almost daily basis and now that they’ve started spring practice that will continue.

On Tuesday, defensive back Cameron Upshaw (6-3, 185, Havana, FL. Gadsden County) visited campus and got to see everything.

“It went great, I loved it and enjoyed every last bit of it,” Upshaw said. “We did the photoshoot, toured the facilities and they told me about the new facilities being built. I got to watch the boys practice too.”

Upshaw was able to watch the Gators practice on Tuesday and he watched defensive coordinator Patrick Toney and defensive backs coach Corey Raymond closely.

“I loved it, the tempo of practice was great,” he said of practice. “Everybody had high energy, the coaches were making sure everyone was doing it the right way. I watched the defensive backs, I love Coach [Patrick] Toney’s work ethic and how he presents stuff to the defensive backs. Coach [Corey] Raymond is the best in the business.”

Toney and Raymond explained to Upshaw that the Gators like his film a lot and explained how he would fit into the defense.

“They really told me that I can play anywhere in the secondary, they see me as a versatile defensive back,” Upshaw said on where Florida wants him at. “They want me at safety, Coach Toney told me he loved my film and that him Coach Raymond love me.”

Upshaw doesn’t have an offer from Florida yet but the Gators coaching staff did explain to him when an offer could come.

“He told me they’re slow on offers right now because they’re still trying to fix the program,” he said on a potential offer. “After I talked to Coach Toney, Coach Raymond walked in and said don’t worry about it that he’s going to make it happen.”

If Florida was to offer Upshaw, the safety says it would be tough to turn down the Gators for college.

“I love Florida, they’re my dream school,” Upshaw said on his interest in Florida. “An offer from them and I would probably commit the same day.”
