UNLV DL commit Broughton liked the energy in the Swamp

The Florida Gators pulled off the big win on Saturday over Texas in front of a sold-out crowd and a good number of recruits who were in the endzone to watch.

UNLV defensive line commit Isaiah Broughton (6-3, 300, Houston, TX., Cy Ridge) was in the stands, and he liked his first trip to Gainesville.

“It feels real good down here,” Broughton said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “I like it down here; the energy is better than most schools I’ve been to. The intensity of the coaches, how they were coaching their players and I see the fans. The fans do it big time down here.”

Broughton watched the defense closely on Saturday and he can see himself fitting into the scheme that the Gators run.

“I see myself in it,” he said of the defense. “If I come here, I’d be in the same position as them growing both as a person and as a player. The coaches know what they want and they’re going to go after it. That’s the feeling I got.”

This was the first time for Broughton to put faces with some of the coaches he has been talking too and it was experience he won’t forget.

“It was really exciting,” Broughton said of meeting the coaches. “It was really exciting; Coach Hamilton has known me for a long time, and I was really excited to see him and to get to meet Coach Chatman. It was just truly humbling and blessing, a blessed experience.”

Broughton will be back in Gainesville for the Mississippi State, and he also plans to take a few other official visits.

“I have an official visit set for Florida,” he said. “I took one to UNLV and ULL this summer. I’m going to be taking one to Vanderbilt, Miami and one to Houston. I haven’t set the dates yet.”

When the UNLV commit returns to Gainesville he hopes to see more of the same as Saturday and he says the Gators set the bar high.

“This is my first time coming down here, so this is like a fresh plate for me because I’ve never been here before,” he said on his thoughts on Florida. “I just learned a lot on the expectations and my expectations are really high for them.”

Broughton admitted that several schools are still in the mix for him and he says he’s trying to figure out who’s real and who isn’t.

“I’m sorting through the muck right now,” Broughton said of his process. “I’m figuring out who’s for me and who’s not. I’ve already started cutting some colleges off, so it’s really starting to get down to the wire.”
