Uini likes the vibe around the Florida Gators football program

Offensive linemen are always a huge priority for teams and this past weekend several top targets on the line were in Gainesville visiting the Florida Gators.

Offensive lineman Michael Uini (6-7, 290, Copperas Cove, TX. High) was on campus for the first time and got to meet everyone at Florida.

“The whole weekend overall was just fun,” Uini said of his official visit. “It was an amazing visit especially for the first time, getting to know the coaches and players. Just seeing their vision for Florida.”

Head coach Billy Napier made sure to show Uini everything the Gators have to offer both on and off the field.

“They threw everything at me, it exceeded my expectations,” he said. “The academic part, the football part, the life after football part. Just everything overall was great.”

Offensive line coaches Rob Sale and Darnell Stapleton both showed Uini how they would use him at tackle in the Gators’ offense and how they can help him succeed.

“It was nice,” Uini said on talking with Sale and Stapleton. “Just them talking to me about how they develop offensive linemen and the plan they have for me and the future of the offensive line. It was great.”

Uini had met Sale and Stapleton before but spending a lot of time around them this weekend showed him how those two coaches are.

“Just their vibe and personality,” he said on what he likes about Sale and Stapleton. “They’re chill, they’re funny. Just everything about them, they’re great people. I talk to them almost every day or every other day.”

Heading into the visit Uini wasn’t sure what to expect from Florida but he says after the visit, the Gators impressed him a lot.

“Florida is up there,” Uini said on where Florida stands for him now. “I definitely loved it, not only me but my family as well. We all loved the official visit.”

Next up for Uini will be three more official visits including two of them to other SEC schools and a return trip to Florida could happen.

“The cookout maybe, we will see,” he said on when he may return to Florida. “I’m going to Michigan next week, then Alabama for a mid-week visit and then Georgia for the last week.”

Uini is starting to feel the pressure from schools to make a decision as classes are starting to fill up and he says he may push up his commitment decision.

“It was originally planned for September 9th, that’s my mom’s birthday,” Uini said on when he may make a decision. “It was going to be a special day, but Clemson made it clear that I may want to speed things up and a little bit. So maybe around July or August.”
