The Florida Gators added depth at a position of need on Monday afternoon as UCLA defensive back Kanye Clark committed and signed with Florida, according to Chris Hummer of CBS Sports.
Clark took a visit to Florida on Saturday, January 10th.
As a redshirt sophomore in 2025, Clark appeared in nine games at cornerback while making two starts at nickel. The 6’0, 190-pound defensive back recorded 23 tackles, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, one QB hurry, and two pass break ups across 207 defensive snaps.
Clark showcased his versatility by lining up all over the defense, logging 80 snaps at cornerback, 79 at nickel, 41 in the box, five along the defensive line, five outside the tackle, and two at free safety.
In coverage, Clark allowed 14 receptions for 166 yards and two touchdowns on 16 targets. The Sacramento, California native missed five tackles on the season, earning a 51.5 tackling grade from Pro Football Focus.
Clark posted a 64.1 defensive grade, the eighth highest among UCLA defenders who logged more than 10 snaps on the season.
In 2024, Clark appeared in the first two games of the year but suffered a season ending injury. Clark recorded one solo tackle and two pass break ups vs. Indiana on September 14th.
As a true freshman in 2023, Clark appeared in five games (North Carolina Central, Arizona State, USC, California and the LA Bowl against Boise State) as a reserve cornerback and special teams player.
Clark began his collegiate career as a walk on but earned a scholarship during spring camp of 2024.
Clark will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Florida is now at 22 transfer portal commitments.
