Tyreak Sapp signs with Cleveland Browns as undrafted free agent

It didn’t take long for Tyreak Sapp to find a home after going unselected in the 2026 NFL Draft, as the former Gators defensive lineman signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent, according to Adam Schefter.

Sapp will join five-year teammate Austin Barber, who was drafted by the Browns in the third round.

Across five seasons in Gainesville, Sapp totaled 125 tackles, 10 sacks, 21.5 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, and two pass deflections.

Early in his career, he moved between the interior defensive line and edge rusher, at times struggling to settle into a consistent role. But the 6-foot-2, 273-pound edge rusher broke out in 2024, when he led the Gators with seven sacks, 13 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.

Sapp’s 90.4 PFF grade was the highest among all qualified Florida players that season, the eighth highest among all FBS edge rushers, the fifth highest among SEC edge rushers and the highest of any Florida defender since 2019 (Jonathon Greenard 90.5).

Returning for his fifth season in 2025, Sapp recorded 34 tackles, one sack, and 3.5 tackles for loss.

WHAT THEY’RE GETTING IN SAPP

Sapp’s strength is his run defense, as he plays with strong leverage and balance while showing the ability to shed blocks. He doesn’t offer much as a pass rusher, which helps explain his draft status. His speed and athleticism off the edge don’t stand out, as he primarily relies on power.

Sapp does have the versatility to play inside on passing downs, which could make him a valuable asset. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native was a leader at Florida and will make any locker room better.
