Two schools including the Florida Gators stand out to White

On Friday, the Florida Gators opened spring practice and the coaching staff also started to host prospects on campus to watch those practices.

Offensive lineman Ethan White (6-5, 315, Clearwater, FL. Superior Collegiate Academy) was on campus on Friday and he got to see several things including practice.

“It was good,” White said of his visit to Florida on Friday. “We got to take a tour of the campus, see a couple of dorms and tour the academic buildings. After that we watched practice and tried on the uniforms.”

While on campus, White got the chance to talk to several coaches including one of the coaches he talks to the most.

“I talked with Coach [Cordell] Landers, Coach [Dan] Mullen and Coach [JohnHevesy,” he said on the coaches he spoke to on Friday. “Coach Landers is probably the coach that I talk to the most.”

Recruiting staff member Cordell Landers spoke at length with White about what the Gators can offer him.

“He was just telling me that Florida is the best in both academics and athletics,” White said of Landers message to him. “He said they’re in the best conference and that you will get a great education and play for championships.”

Offensive line coach John Hevesy also showed some film to White about where the Gators want him at and what the lineman can improve at.

“He has been telling me what I can do to help myself on the field to get ready for college,” he said of Hevesy’s message to him. “He says he sees me as a guard but I would also like to learn how to snap so I could play center to.”

Head coach Dan Mullen also spoke with White about what a degree from the University of Florida means.

“Coach Mullen is just saying that Florida is a family,” White said of Mullen’s message to him. “He said whether you play at Florida or just graduate from there, that when you go own from there, you will always have a family connection to there.”

This was the second time for White to be on campus with this coaching and he walks away impressed by the staff.

“They seem like great coaches and just great people overall,” he said of his impressions of the coaching staff. “It’s not always just about football with the coaches.”

After these visits, White says he has two schools standing out to him early in the process.

“Florida and UNC,” White said of schools standing out to him. “I would like to make a decision over the summer before my senior year.”

INSIDERS TAKE: White says he plans to return to Gainesville for the Gators spring game and he wants to get to North Carolina either this spring or in the summer time. Right now Florida has done a good job with White and getting him on campus.
