Turner shows Umanmielen he’s wanted in Gainesville

The Florida Gators coaching staff was back out on the road on Tuesday visiting prospects in several different states for in-home visits.

Defensive line coach David Turner visited defensive end Princely Umanmielen (6-4, 249, Manor, TX. High) on Tuesday and explained some things about the Gators to the end.

“Coach [David] Turner visited me at my school,” Umanmielen said of Florida visiting him on Tuesday. “It went pretty good, we just talked about the depth chart and the defense, stuff like that.”

Umanmielen admits that seeing Turner on Tuesday was big for him and also showed him that the Gators were serious about him.

“It felt pretty good, it made me feel pretty wanted,” he said on what it meant for Turner to visit him. “It let me know that Florida is pretty serious about me and that they want me.”

Turner explained to Umanmielen on Tuesday how the Gators would use him on defense if he was to choose Florida for college.

“He just told me he sees me playing as a defensive end,” Umanmielen said of where Turner wants him to play. “He said that they will switch it up with me having my hand in the dirt and standing up some too. He was telling me that they have a pretty old defensive line so they need young guys.”

This was the first time for Umanmielen to meet Turner and the defensive end liked how straight to the point Turner was with him.

“He’s a pretty nice guy and he’s genuine,” he said on his impressions of Turner. “He told me everything straight up and said that it isn’t going to be easy at Florida and things like. I liked how he didn’t sugar coat anything.”

Next up Umanmielen plans to return the favor and visit Gainesville and he knows what he wants to see out of the visit.

“I’m visiting Florida next weekend,” Umanmielen said of when he plans to visit Florida. “I’m looking forward to seeing if I feel comfortable there and just see the campus and stuff.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Umanmielen doesn’t plan to sign until February and at this time Florida and Auburn are the only two schools that he’s thinking about visiting./
