Turner says he has always favored the Florida Gators

Two weeks ago when the Florida Gators shut out UT-Martin, the Florida coaching staff hosted several underclassmen in the Swamp to watch the game.

2021 outside linebacker Dallas Turner (6-3, 222, Fort Lauderdale, FL. American Heritage) was one of those guys in attendance.

“The visit went well,” Turner said of his visit to Florida two weeks ago. “We got to go into the locker room and walk on the field. It wasn’t my first visit so I was familiar with the area.”

This wasn’t Turner’s first game in the Swamp but still the 2021 prospect walked away impressed by the fans energy during the game.

“It was awesome,” he said of the atmosphere in the Swamp against UT-Martin. “I felt the energy and the excitement. I will attend more games this season. I really like it there.”

While on campus, Turner had the chance to talk with several of Florida’s coaches and got a message from those coaches as well.

“I talked to plenty of the coaches, Coach [Todd] Grantham, Coach Billy Gonzales and Coach [Dan] Mullen mainly,” Turner said of the coaches he talked to. “They said that they want me to be a Gator and they can see me here.”

Defensive coordinator Todd Grantham made sure to explain to Turner how the Gators could use him in the defense and where he could potentially play.

“He said he could use me in his defense,” he said on the message from Grantham. “He also said I can play the buck position on the defense. I like that position and I feel like I can play it well and prosper at it.”

Now that coaches can contact underclassmen, Turner says he hears from three of Florida’s coaches on a regular basis.

“I talk to those three coaches the most,” Turner said on the coaches from Florida who contact him. “We have a pretty good relationship and I think of those guys very highly.”

Turner has over a dozen offers already but he says the Gators hold a special place for him and he likes several things about the Gators.

“I always favored Florida since I was younger,” he said on his interest in Florida. “I like the culture of the school and the type of football they play.”

The Gators aren’t the only school recruiting Turner hard as several other top programs are after the 2021 prospect.

“LSU, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Alabama, Clemson and South Carolina have communicated with me over the phone,” Turner said on other schools recruiting him. “Me and my father plan on visiting LSU.”TuT
