Turner enjoys the gameday atmosphere in the Swamp

The Florida Gators had several under classmen on campus when they hosted Florida State two weeks ago in the Swamp.

2021 defensive end Byron Turner (6-3, 234, New Orleans, LA. St. Augustine) was on campus and enjoyed his time in Gainesville.

“The visit was exciting,” Turner said of his visit to Florida for the FSU game. “I watched the game and took some pictures and talked to the coaches after the game.”

Turner like the gameday experience in the Swamp and he was impressed by the Gators defense as well.

“It was loud and exciting,” he said of what he thought of the atmosphere and game. “Only one word can describe the defense, they’re elite.”

While on campus, Turner also got the chance to talk to several members of the Gators coaching staff.

“I talked to Coach David Turner, Greg Knox and Todd Grantham,” Turner said on the coaches he talked to on Saturday. “Coach Turner was talking about committing and he was just telling me to wait until I’m 100% sure that I’m ready.”

Defensive line coach David Turner explained to Turner just how the Gators could use him on defense in Gainesville.

“He said that I would be a guy that can do multiple times,” he said on where Turner sees him playing. “He said that I would be a stand up end that can play both defensive line and linebacker.”

Head coach Dan Mullen also spoke with Turner during the visit but it was a short talk about the defensive end.

“I didn’t get to have a long conversation with him because he was leaving the field when I talked to him,” Turner said of his talk with Mullen. “He just came up and asked me how I was doing and how my grades were.”

After the visit Turner had good things to say about the Gators and he likes how the coaching staff is keeping in touch with him so much.

“I like them, the relationships are good with Florida and I talk with them almost everyday,” he said of what he likes about Florida. “I feel like they’ve been being straight forward with everything and I like that. I like the amount of love they show me when I’m out there.”
