Trenton Henderson says the Florida Gators are a top contender

On Friday, several prospects were in town to shadow current players to see what it’s like to be a college player at Florida.

Defensive end Trenton Henderson (6-4, 225, Pensacola, FL. Catholic) was one of those guys on campus and he hung around a current freshman who just enrolled at Florida.

“I shadowed Jalen Wiggins,” Henderson said. “It was great shadowing him, he’s a great role model, I learned a lot from him. The highlight was just him telling me how he goes through a college day and just seeing that it’s more than football.”

Henderson is one of the top players in the country and he says he’s starting to feel how important he is to Florida as of late.

“They’re making a big move for me,” he said of Florida. “I really just like that, Florida has always made me feel like I’m one of their top guys but now I’m really starting to feel that.”

Outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson explained to Henderson where he would play at but Friday was more about seeing everything Florida has to offer.

“Coach Mike P, he just showed me that they see me playing as their jack linebacker,” Henderson said on where Florida likes him at. “It was just mainly getting to know everyone and seeing the facilities.”

One thing that stood out to Henderson was the message that early playing time is available in Gainesville.

“That triggered me a lot,” he said on Florida telling him he could play early. “I like that because you can’t get better without playing some, no way better than just jump in the fire and go.”

Now that Florida has showed Henderson what it’s like to be a student-athlete in Gainesville, he plans to get back to town multiple times.

“I will be back in the spring and for an official visit,” Henderson said. “No date yet.”

Several other SEC teams are in the mix for Henderson as he’s starting to think about who could official visits.

“I’m going to take as many as I can in the summer and then maybe some in the fall,” he said on official visits. “Texas, Auburn, probably Bama and Georgia.”

After the visit, Henderson had high praise for the Gators and he says they’re now a top team in his recruitment.

“Florida is one of the top contenders,” Henderson said on where stands for him and what he wants out of a school. “I’m looking for a coaching staff that I feel like can develop me and make me a better player both on and off the field.”
