Tim Tebow elected to the College Football Hall of Fame

Tim Tebow becomes the 13th Gator and the 10th Florida player to enter the College Football Hall of Fame.

Tebow joins players Dale Van Sickel, Steve Spurrier, Jack Youngblood, Emmit Smith, Wilber Marshall, Carlos Alvarez, Danny Wuerffel, Wes Chandler, Lomas Brown and coaches Charles Bachman, Ray Graves, Doug Dickey, and Steve Spurrier.

Since 2006, UF has had seven inductees, the most by an SEC school.

The Ponte Vedra Beach product was the #1 dual threat quarterback in the 2006 class.

Tebow led the Gators to a 48-7 record during his time in Gainesville, winning two SEC and National championships in 2006 and 2008.

A consensus 1st team All-American in 2007, Tebow claimed the Heisman Trophy, repeating as a Heisman finalist in 2008 and 2009. Tebow was awarded the Maxwell Award in 2007 and 2008, becoming the second player in college football history to win the Maxwell Award in back-to-back seasons. Tebow was awarded the Davey O’Brien Award in 2007. In 2006, Tebow landed on the All-SEC Freshman team. Tebow was a three-time SEC Offensive player of the year and first team All-SEC selection (2007-2009).

The two-time team captain set 28 school records, 14 conference records, and five NCAA records during his career at UF. He led the Gators during a school record 22-game winning streak. He threw for 9,285 yards and 88 touchdowns while also rushing for 2,947 yards and 55 touchdowns throughout his career at UF. He was the first player in NCAA history to rush and pass for at least 20 touchdowns in a season.

The Gators ranked inside the top three of the final AP rankings in three of Tebow’s four years, leading Florida to become the first FBS team to record back-to-back 13-win seasons (2008-2009).

Tebow is now a member of the Florida Football Ring of Honor, the University of Florida Hall of Fame, and the College Football Hall of Fame.
