Tight end CJ Hawkins commits to the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators picked up their fourth commitment for the Class of 2022 on Thursday when an in-state prospect committed to the Gators.

Tight end CJ Hawkins (6-7, 220, Tampa, FL. Berkeley Prep committed to the Gators over offers from Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and others and just days after picking up an offer from the Gators.

Hawkins plays basketball as well and the hardwood was his focus until starting to play football last year and he quickly started to pick up offers for football as well.

The tight end has an offer to play both sports at USF but many schools have talked to him about walking on in basketball and that could be something that Mike White and the Gators let him do as well.

Hawkins is a big physical tight end that will be a big asset to the offense as Dan Mullen showed last year he knows how to create mismatches for his tight end.

Now that Hawkins is committed, the Gators will continue to push for tight end Jaleel Skinner who named the Gators his leader last month over the in-state Clemson Tigers.

Tim Brewster is trying to get Skinner on campus after the dead period but the South Carolina native hasn’t been in any rush to make a decision or visit plans.
