Thurmon enjoys his game-day visit in the Swamp to watch the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators host several prospects on campus for homecoming against the Florida Gators last weekend including several underclassmen.

2024 offensive lineman Elyjah Thurmon (6-3, 271, Hinesville, GA. Bradwell Institute) was on campus for the first time since Friday Night Lights on Saturday.

“The visit was great,” Thurmon said on his visit to Florida on Saturday. “I got to speak with some of the coaching staff that I haven’t seen in a while. I got to go down on the field for pregame and then sat in the endzone for the game.”

This was the first game day experience for Thurmon and he enjoyed the crowd in the Swamp on Saturday.

“The atmosphere was lit,” he said on what he thought of the atmosphere in the Swamp. “Passing by all the sorority houses and everything, the signs, the posters, the crowds of people outside, and the way the stadium was rocking during every moment was lit.”

While watching the game, Thurmon focused on the offensive line and he liked how they performed in the passing game.

“The offense had a decent game,” Thurmon said of Florida’s play on Saturday. “There were a couple of moments in the game where the holes weren’t opening, or someone came untouched and made a play. The pocket presence was amazing and Ant [Anthony Richardson] had so much time to get rid of the ball and the offense moved down the field when every aspect clicked.”

Offensive line coaches Rob Sale and Darnell Stapleton spoke with Thurmon before the game and explained to him what they wanted him to watch.

“They said it was great to have me back in the Swamp,” he said on the message from Coach Sale and Stapleton. “They asked how I was doing and performing so far in the season, and they also wanted me to pay attention and study the offensive line themselves to get a look at what they do.”

Thurmon likes the Florida Gators and he says Saturday’s visit helped the Gators’ chances with him.

“I will always have my love for Florida being they were my first major power 5 offer and them having an amazing academic program too,” Thurmon said on his interest in Florida. “I’m keeping my options open still but the game experience definitely was a game changer.”
