The Florida Gators landed commitment number 14 on Thursday evening when receiver Josh Hammond (6-0, 180, Hallandale, FL High) committed to Florida over Ohio State and others.

Hammond is the younger brother of former Gators receiver Frankie Hammond Jr. who is now a member of the Kansas City Chiefs. The older Hammond went to Twitter to congratulate his younger brother on his commitment to Florida.

Why the Hot Light Hammond 2 hashtag?
Well the older Hammond is big on Krispy Kreme doughnuts and getting them while their famous Hot Light is on so he has donned the nickname “Hot Light Hammond.”
Now back to the younger and newest Florida Gator, Josh Hammond. He plans to early enrollee in Gainesville next January after putting together a solid junior year.
It was a junior year that saw Hammond have 25 catches for 413 yards and six touchdowns and led him to be invited to the Under Armour All-American Game.
When you take a look at Hammond you may say well he’s only a three star prospect but he held offers from the likes Georgia, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee and others but with the loaded state of Florida at the receiver position, Hammond is often over looked.
Hammond now joins receivers Rick Wells and Isaiah Johnson on the position and is one of eight prospects on the offensive side of the ball for head coach Jim McElwain and the Florida Gators.
This is also a big pick up for receivers coach Kerry Dixon who beat out several big name coaches for Hammond’s commitment.
