The Florida Gators cruised past LIU to open the 2025 season

The Florida Gators (1-0, 0-0) defeated the Long Island Sharks 55-0 on Saturday in the Swamp to open the 2025 football season.

DJ Lagway and the Gators’ offense started slow, but the first half was strong as they took a 38-0 lead into halftime.

The Gators’ defense came out of the gate fast and returned a fumble for a touchdown on the first possession as they dominated LIU’s offense.

 

FIRST QUARTER:

Florida 7, LIU 0- 37-yard fumble recovery by Bryce Thornton returned for a touchdown.

Florida 14, LIU 0- 4-yard rushing touchdown for Jaden Baugh with 9:29 to go.

SECOND QUARTER:

Florida 17, LIU 0- 56-yard field goal is good by Trey Smack with 14:47 to go.

Florida 24, LIU 0- 4-yard passing touchdown from DJ Lagway to Tre Wilson with 7:04 to go.

Florida 31, LIU 0- 4-yard passing touchdown from DJ Lagway to Hayden Hansen with 3:26 to go.
