The Florida Gators’ coaching staff impressed Davis during his junior day visit

The Florida Gators are in the middle of recruiting transfers but on Saturday several 2027 prospects were on campus so Jon Sumrall and his staff could start building relationships.

Receiver Carter Davis (5-10, 165, Gulf Shores, AL. High) was on campus, and was impressed by the energy around the program and campus in general.

“Man, it was great,” Davis said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “I love the coaches; the coaches were great. They were everywhere making sure everyone was ok. The environment, like the basketball games, it was nice and a lot of people there so I just know if it was packed for a basketball game that a football game would be too.”

Sumrall first offered Davis at Auburn so he’s familiar with the Gators new head coach and he believes he can fix the Gators’ program.

“I knew Coach Sumrall from when he offered me at Tulane,” he said. “I really like his energy, it’s great and they’re big on winning and all about winning. They’re going to turn this program around.”

Receivers coach Marcus Davis offered Davis at Auburn, so their relationship is already a good one and they were able to catch up again on Saturday.

“Our relationship is strong, that’s my guy,” Davis said of his relationship with Marcus Davis. “We got up there and was having a conversation at the basketball game. He really likes that I can take the top off defenses, go deep and beat people deep.”

Saturday, was the first time for Davis to visit Gainesville and he walked away impressed by several things and he got a home feeling while in town.

“I like the environment, the culture, the energy of the coaches and just everything,” he said on what he likes about Florida. “It actually felt like home to me.”

The Gators have several other teams competing for Davis right now including multiple SEC schools.

“Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, and West Virginia,” Davis said on the other schools recruiting him.
