Ten players to look out for in Florida’s week nine matchup with Georgia

It’s gameday in Gainesville. The world’s largest cocktail party is in full effect Saturday morning as tailgaters make their way to Jacksonville for one of the best sporting events of the year.

Florida is set to clash with Georgia at 3:30 on CBS. The Bulldogs are 23-point favorites on gameday, one of the largest spreads in this rivalry’s history.

It’s going to take an incredible effort from Billy Napier and the Florida Gators if they are going to pull out a victory today. However, we’ve seen crazier things happen.

Gator Country gives you ten players to look out for in this week nine SEC East matchup.

ANTHONY RICHARDSON #15

We will need to see some Richardson magic if the Gators are going to pull off this upset. Richardson’s been inconsistent through the air this season, struggling with accuracy within the pocket. However, Richardson is one of the best QBs in the country coming off of a play action. Richardson needs to utilize his legs in this one.

BROCK BOWERS #19

Bowers is not only one of the best players on Georgia’s roster, but he’s one of the best tight ends in the country. The Gators have struggled to defend TEs this year. Amari Burney and Ventrell Miller will need to have their best game in pass coverage.

TREVOR ETIENNE #7

Etienne is playing in his older brother’s NFL stadium for the first time; I’m calling for a huge game. Etienne has solidified himself as a top two running back in Billy Napier’s system in just his first year. He has totaled 334 yards and three touchdowns through seven games.

DARNELL WASHINGTON #0

Washington is the other threat at the tight end position for the Bulldogs. He’s not quite the vertical threat that Bowers is, but if you don’t keep an eye on him, he’s going to beat you. Washington has yet to find the endzone but has gathered 285 yards as the backup tight end.

VENTRELL MILLER #51

If the Gators are going to keep this close and play a sound game defensively, they need their best player to lead the way. All eyes are on Ventrell Miller Saturday afternoon.

STETSON BENNETT #13

Bennett is back for what seems like his 10th year of college football. He’s putting together his most impressive season yet, totaling 2,033 yards for seven touchdowns and one interception. His 84.7 QBR rating ranks 11th in FBS. The Gators need to make Bennett uncomfortable by applying pressure. The rain may help the Gators out in this one.

GERVON DEXTER #0

Dexter was a highly touted prospect entering the 2022 season; he hasn’t exactly filled the stat sheet through seven games. I’m looking for Dexter to get pressure on the QB today, which he has struggled to do all season. Your best players need to come alive in the biggest games.

RICKY PEARSALL #1

Pearsall has been a great addition for this Gators staff. He may not light up the stat sheet, but he’s been productive when given opportunities. Napier needs to get creative and find ways to get the ball to Pearsall.

NOLAN SMITH #4

Georgia only has seven sacks on the season, smith has three of them. He’s an NFL talent LB and a player to watch in this one.

JAMON DUMAS-JOHNSON #10

Johnson leads the Bulldogs in solo tackles with 28. You’ll see him all over the field on Saturday afternoon.
