Super Gallery: Florida Gators fall to Spurrier’s Gamecocks

The Florida Gators lost a heartbreaking game at the hands of Steve Spurrier and the South Carolina Gamecocks 23-20 on Saturday night.

After South Carolina raced out to a 10-point lead, the Gator defense settled down and played the kind of defenses fans have grown accustomed to, holding South Carolina’s potent offense to just 140 yards on the next 51 plays in regulation.

Treon Harris ran for more than 100 yards on 20 carries and the Gators ran 218 yards as a team.

In the end it was two special teams gaffs — a blocked field goal and a blocked punt — that allowed South Carolina to come away with a win.

Gator Country’s photographer David Bowie was down on the field taking in the action and we now bring you a beautiful photo gallery with more than 130 pictures from the game.

Nick de la Torre
A South Florida native, Nick developed a passion for all things sports at a very young age. His love for baseball was solidified when he saw Al Leiter’s no-hitter for the Marlins live in May of 1996. He was able to play baseball in college but quickly realized there isn’t much of a market for short, slow outfielders that hit around the Mendoza line. Wanting to continue with sports in some capacity he studied journalism at the University of Central Florida. Nick got his first start in the business as an intern for a website covering all things related to the NFL draft before spending two seasons covering the Florida football team at Bleacher Report. That job led him to GatorCountry. When he isn’t covering Gator sports, Nick enjoys hitting way too many shots on the golf course, attempting to keep up with his favorite t.v. shows and watching the Heat, Dolphins and Marlins.
