Stubbs likes what Billy Napier is building with the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators were on the home team on Saturday for the Georgia game and were able to host recruits in Jacksonville for the game.

2025 defensive back Hylton Stubbs (6-1, 180, Jacksonville, FL. Mandarin) was at the game and liked the atmosphere for the rivalry game.

“The game was live,” Stubbs said of his experience attending the Florida/Georgia game. “It was in my city so during the tailgating a lot of people were talking to me and giving me love. The game was packed, I can’t wait to play in front of that many people.”

Stubbs watched the Gators’ defense and defensive backs closely and he believes the play could’ve been better, but he thought one guy in particular played good.

“They could’ve done better but UGA is probably the best team in college football right now,” he said of Florida. “The defensive backs have been playing ok, some of them dudes were getting cooked. I think [Jason] Marshall played pretty good though.”

Recruits were not able to talk to the coaching staff because of the neutral site but when Stubbs does talk to the staff, they’ve told him he could play multiple positions on defense.

“I think I can play anywhere on the field,” Stubbs said on where Florida wants him at on defense. “I’m good over the top or in the box. I think my range is what they need, a lot of teams like to spread them out and beat them on corner routes.”

Stubbs has been to several home games in Gainesville already and he likes what head coach Billy Napier is building with the program.

“Florida is very high on my list of schools,” he said on where Florida stands for him. “I like what Coach Napier is putting together, they’re going to be good after a couple of his classes come in.”

Next up for Stubbs will be another trip to Gainesville as the defensive back will watch the Gators again.

“I’m thinking about coming to the Arkansas or Florida State game,” Stubbs said on when he plans to visit UF again. “I’ve got to see how things go with my team. We got to get ready for the playoffs.”
