Stubbs has the Florida Gators as his leader following his Jr. Day visit

The Florida Gators hosted their first junior day on Saturday and several of their top targets were in town for the day.

2025 defensive back Hylton Stubbs (6-1, 180, Jacksonville, FL. Mandarin) was on campus and enjoyed getting to meet new defensive backs coach Will Harris.

“The visit was great,” Stubbs said. “Coach [Will] Harris is a very down-to-earth coach, and he has a great resume. He was great to talk to and he was a great person to be around for the day.”

Stubbs was impressed by Harris and he liked the message that the new assistant coach had for him about how he likes his room to be run.

“He seems a like a great coach,” he said on Harris. “He likes to have just one defensive backs room and not a safety one and a corner one. He likes to have everyone put together as one. I think that makes it better for communication in the defensive back core. He’s just a great person to be around.”

Defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong also spent time with Stubbs on Saturday and explained how much they like his game.

“They love that they got me on campus for the junior day,” Stubbs said on the message from the coaching staff. “They really like my game; they told me that I was the first player that they told Coach Harris about when he got on campus.”

Head coach Billy Napier spent time with Stubbs as well and made sure to let him know that the Gators want him in the 2025 class.

“He told me to keep balling and doing what I’m doing,” he said on the message from Napier. “He said I’m one of their top priorities and that he loves everything about me.”

While on campus, Stubbs said he almost committed to the Gators because of the visit and the relationship with the coaches.

“It was a real good time for me and it felt right at the time,” Stubbs said on why he almost committed during the visit. “It was a good time.”

After the visit, Stubbs says he has a leader in his recruitment because of several reasons.

“Florida is my leader,” he said. “Everything about Florida, they’re recruiting me very heavy, I’ve been up there a lot of times and I love the vibe around Florida. I love everything about Florida.”

Next up for Stubbs will be a trip to one of Florida’s rivals as the defensive back will be down there playing in a 7-on-7 tournament.

“I think I will be at Miami on January 27th because of a 7-on-7 tournament,” Stubbs said on what’s next for him. “
