Strozier high on the Florida Gators’ defensive back coaches after UF visit

On Saturday, the Florida Gators coaching staff had several top 2023 prospects on campus for unofficial visits while they host six official visitors on campus as well.

2023 defensive back Branden Strozier (6-2, 175, Alpharetta, GA. St. Francis) was on campus for the first time and enjoyed getting to see everything Florida has to offer.

“It was really good, I liked it for my first time,” Strozier said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “We started off by going on an educational tour and then we went and toured the weight room and met the strength and conditioning staff. After lunch we toured the new facility, they’re building and then we did the photo shoot and meetings with the coaches.”

While on the visit, Strozier picked up an offer after he talked to cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond.

“Coach [Corey] Raymond offered,” he said on who offered him during the visit. “He said he wanted to offer mainly because of my length and my feet. He said I’m able to use my length to my advantage.”

Strozier was excited to pick up an offer from the Gators and he likes Florida’s two defensive backs coaches.

“It felt good for them to offer me,” Strozier said on what the offer means to him. “Coach [Patrick] Toney and Coach Raymond are both real good coaches so if I was to go to Florida that I could make an impact.”

While this was the first time for Strozier to talk to Raymond, the defensive back has been talking to co-defensive coordinator Patrick Toney the last few weeks.

“This was our first conversation, but I’ve been mainly communicating with Coach Toney the last month,” Strozier said. “I love the coaching staff there, it’s real good and they’re coming in and changing some stuff up there.”

Toney and Raymond explained to Strozier during the visit just how the Gators’ defense will be run and how he could fit into that scheme.

“They mainly went over the defense and how they play what,” he said on the message from the coaching staff about the defense. “They mainly talked about how Coach Toney coming from Louisiana that they were able to stop the pass and they were one of the best passing defenses in college. They feel like I would be an asset in that.”

After visiting Florida, Strozier says the Gators have the three things that he’s looking for in a school.

“The three things that I look at in a school is coaching, production, and life after football,” Strozier said on what he likes about Florida. “I feel like Florida will prepare me for after football with a good educational program and Coach Raymond has put plenty of defensive backs in the league.”
