Story “really interested” in the Florida Gators after being offered

On Sunday, the Florida Gators handed out another 2020 offer as the Gators have been visiting several prospects the last few weeks during the evaluation period.

Area recruiter Billy Gonzales offered 2020 athlete Kristian Story (6-1, 206, Lanett, AL. High) on Sunday afternoon.

“Coach Gonzales offered me,” Story said on which coach from Florida offered him on Sunday. “He said that they really liked me and they’re hoping that I will visit them this summer.”

Gonzales explained to Story just what Florida liked him about and why they were deciding to offer the athlete.

“My versatility,” he said on what Florida likes about him. “He said that I can play many different positions but they haven’t decided or talked to me about one specific position yet. Some schools are talking to me about quarterback or safety but I don’t have a preference.”

Story hasn’t visited Gainesville yet but the Alabama native does know a few things about the Gators and head coach Dan Mullen.

“I don’t know that much really,” Story said on what he knows about Florida. “I always liked to watch them play but I don’t really know a lot besides what I see from the media. Coach Mullen seems to be a very likeable and a players coach.”

Many other top programs offered Story much earlier than the Gators but receivers coach Billy Gonzales explained why Florida was late offering the athlete.

“It doesn’t really matter to me but Coach Gonzales talked to me about why,” he said on Florida offering late. “He said that they didn’t think they had a chance because they thought I was a lock to Alabama.”

Story now plans to visit Gainesville soon and he has interest in the Gators as he heads into a decision next fall.

“I’m really interested in them,” Story said of his interest in Florida. “I’ll know more after I visit and I plan on making my commitment on October 5th.”
