Starr interested in the Florida Gators following Tuesday’s offer

The Florida Gators coaching staff is out on the road recruiting this week and on Tuesday they handed out a few new offers.

Defensive back Donovan Starr (6-0, 175, Brentwood, TN. High) was one of those guys who received a visit from the staff and three defensive coaches stopped by to see him.

“Coach [Austin] Armstrong, Coach [Will] Harris and Coach [Ron] Roberts were by to see me,” Starr said. “It went good, I was talking to them for about an hour, it went smooth and was good. This was the first time that I talked to them in person.”

While visiting with Starr on Tuesday, defensive backs coach Will Harris offered the Tennessee native.

“He was just saying that he wanted to wait to offer me in person,” he said on the message from Harris about offering him. “He just let me know that they were offering me and they were glad to see me in person.”

Harris explained to Starr on Tuesday why the Gators wanted to offer him and where he could potentially play at on defense.

“He said he liked my size, speed and my film,” Starr said on the message from Harris. “He said he coaches all of the defensive backs, so the corners know what the safeties are doing and the safeties know what the corners are doing. Everyone knows what everyone is supposed to do so they plan to move me around.”

This was the first time for Harris to meet Starr and the veteran coach left a big impression on the defensive back.

“They seem like good dudes,” he said on his impressions of the staff. “They kept it real with me and said the truth. It was a good conversation. Coach Harris told me that he came from the NFL and that made an impression.”

Next up for Starr could be a visit to Gainesville as soon as next weekend as the Tennessee native has an interest in Florida.

“I’m looking at next week or soon,” Starr said on when he may visit Florida. “I say that I have a legitimate interest in them and I’m just going to see how it goes when I get down there and my relationship with the coaches.”
