This week, the Florida Gators had several prospects come into town for visits, but a few guys stayed multiple days including on Saturday for the Orange and Blue spring game.
Linebacker Ja’Bios Smith (6-3, 195, Swainsboro, GA. High) was one of those guys who was on campus multiple days, and he was able to see everything the staff has to offer.
“The trip was great,” Smith said of his visit to Florida. “That was really all I wanted to see was the staff, it was great. I love it.”
Smith has been wanting to visit the new staff for a while now and that was a big draw for him but also the experience this staff has at coaching the linebacker position.
“I’ve been wanting to get down for the longest,” he said. “So, I got down here had a great time getting to see the staff, and I got to see the facility once again. Also, a lot of the coaches played linebacker, the head coach, the defensive coordinator, and Coach [Greg] Gasparato so I feel like they will put in a lot of work with the group.”
Head coach Jon Sumrall met multiple times with Smith and explained to him that Florida is the place to be.
“He was just chatting it up and he said there’s no other place I need to be then here,” Smith said on his meetings with Sumrall. We had two meetings, great dude.”
After the visit, Smith says the Gators have made a move in his recruitment but the Gators trail three SEC schools heading into official visits.
“They’re recruiting me hard,” he said. “Coach Gasparato hits me up everyday and they’re top five now. I’m going to drop a top five soon. South Carolina and Georgia are recruiting me the hardest, Texas A&M is number one.”
