Smith looking to visit the Florida Gators after being offered

This week has been a busy one for the Florida Gators as they’ve handed out several offers to prospects in multiple states.

Safety Isaac Smith (6-0, 200, Fulton, MS. Itawamba) picked up an offer on Wednesday after he talked to the Gators staff.

“I got on the phone with Coach [Jamar] Chaney,” Smith said on the coach who offered him. “Me and him have been in contact for a couple of years now and he handed the phone over to the DC [Patrick Toney] and he offered.”

Smith was excited to hear the news that the Gators were offering him, and he likes the coaching staff in Gainesville.

“It means a lot,” he said on what the offer meant to him. “I know the coaching staff has come in to do great things and they have nothing but success in store for them and the future is very bright. It means a lot to me knowing they like my game and want to develop me into a greater player and as a man.”

Defensive coordinator Patrick Toney explained to Smith on Wednesday what the Gators like about his game.

“They love my game,” Smith said on what the coaches told him. “They love my long body, how physical I play the game, my ball skills, and like I said how I play the game. We haven’t really chopped it up that much yet but we’re going to get into more.”

Analyst Jamar Chaney has a strong relationship with Smith and it’s one that started before Chaney arrived in Gainesville.

“Coach Chaney is a great coach and mentor,” he said on his relationship with Chaney. “Me and him have had a relationship going on for about two years now so it’s a pretty solid relationship that can only get stronger.”

After the offer, Smith is looking to visit Gainesville and he says he has a lot of interest in the Gators already.

“It’s pretty high,” Smith said about his interest in Florida. “I don’t know much about Florida but I’m really looking forward to learning a lot more about them and Gainesville. I haven’t locked in a date to visit yet but I’m going to for sure.”
