Smith likes several things about the Florida Gators

Last week the Florida Gators spent most of their time on the road visiting underclassmen as the coaching staff gets a head start on the 2020 class.

2020 athlete Arian Smith (6-1, 170, Mulberry, FL. High) was one of the prospects that tight ends coach Larry Scott visited last week.

“Coach Scott came by,” Smith said on Florida visiting him last week. “It went good, my offensive line coach was in there with us. We had a good time and he talked to my coach.”

Smith is one of the Gators top targets and he hears from several coaches from Florida but one coach in particular is recruiting him the hardest and has a message for him.

“It’s mostly Coach Scott,” he said on the coach who he talks to the most. “He tells me that I’m a priority and that they really want me at Florida. He said that they’re going to recruit me hard.”

The 2020 athlete plays both offense and defense in high school but Smith says the Gators are leaving his position in college up to him.

“They said they don’t care which side of the ball I play on,” Smith said on where Florida wants him to play. “They said I could choose which side of the ball I want to play. I’m probably more offense than defense right now, like receiver.”

Smith didn’t visit Gainesville this past fall but he watched them on TV and he was impressed by year one under Dan Mullen.

“They stepped up pretty good this year, they did good,” he said on Florida’s offense this past year. “They have some goals and some special goals. They have it rolling up there.”

The Gators aren’t the only team recruiting Smith hard as several other instate schools are after Smith with visits coming up.

“Florida, Georgia, FSU, UCF and that’s the most right now,” Smith said on the schools recruiting him hard. “Junior days are coming up, I’m trying to make some junior day visits.”

Florida does have a few things working in its favor according to Smith but the 2020 athlete wants to visit Gainesville and get to know the coaches better this spring.

“How convenient it is for me, it’s not far from home,” he said on what he likes about Florida. “They have a good program, they have a good track program too. I’m going to visit them soon.”
