Smith happy to be a Florida Gator

The Florida Gators started off the junior day weekend on Friday as several prospects made their way to campus for an unofficial visit.

2021 athlete commit Brashard Smith (5-9, 177, Miami, FL. Palmetto) was one of those guys on campus on Friday and he had the chance to meet with several Gators coaches.

“It was fun, I just got to chop it up with the coaches,” Smith said of his visit to Florida on Friday. “Coach [Billy] Gonzales just said he was excited that I was here, it wasn’t really football stuff.”

This was the first time on campus for Smith since he committed to the Gators and he said Friday’s visit made him feel more comfortable with his decision.

“Yeah, it was good, I got to talk to all of the coaches,” he said on if Friday’s visit helped solidify his commitment. “It made me feel happy to be there.”

Despite his commitment to the Gators, Smith says he may visit two other schools that are recruiting him hard.

“Probably LSU and Georgia,” Smith said on other visits. “They will probably be unofficial visits.”

Smith wants to take visits but he says Florida is a school that he has grew up watching and rooting for since he was a kid.

“Florida has been my dream school since I was little,” he said on why he committed to Florida. “My mom really liked it, I liked it. It feels like home. It became real when I put the helmet on.”
