Silver explains why the Gators made his top seven on Saturday

The Florida Gators have had some momentum last week after picking up two commitments and on Saturday they made the cut for another top target in the 2021 class.

2021 defensive end Keeshawn Silver (6-5, 236, Rocky Mount, NC. High) cut his list of schools down to seven and he explained why the Gators made the cut for him.

“They produce defensive linemen every year,” Silver said on why Florida made his top seven. “You see what they did with Jonathan Greenard and stuff like. They produce a lot of defensive linemen and that’s big in a school.”

Three Gators coaches are recruiting him hard and that’s giving him a good vibe about the Gators program early on.

“I have a good connection with Coach Coop and Coach [David] Turner, it feels like family, stuff like that, we have a tight connection,” he said on the coaches recruiting him from Florida. “Dan Mullen talks with me with me often but me and Coach Coop have a good connection and we talk on the daily.”

Turner and Cooper have explained to Silver just how they plan to use the defensive end if he comes to Florida for college.

“I’m 4-3, 4-4 defensive kind of guy and they run a 4-3 defense and that’s good for me,” Silver said on where Florida is recruiting him to play. “That’s good for me because I’m not a big 3-4 person. They’re recruiting me as a straight defensive end.”

This coming weekend Silver will make the trip to Gainesville for a visit for junior day and he knows what he wants to do during the trip.

“I want to get down there for a longer time, last time I was only down there for one day but this time I’m staying down longer,” he said on what he wants to see during the visit to Florida this coming weekend. “I can see more of Gainesville and not just football, from my perspective it isn’t just about the coaches because they can leave so I want to see academics and what they have around the school.”

Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Auburn, LSU, Oregon and Alabama all made his top seven and he explained what separated those teams.

“Defensive line wise, those are places I can see myself going,” Silver said on why those seven schools made the cut for him. “There’s no point in wasting time so I decided to cut it down and focus on those seven schools. Those seven schools are applying pressure on me.”

Next up for Silver is more visits and possibly official visits as he would like to make an early decision before his senior season.

“I don’t want to have stress during my senior season so I might make a decision or cut it down more, I’m not sure yet,” he said on when he wants to make a decision. “I want to take my officials early so I can make a decision.
