Shemar James commits to the Florida Gators over Alabama

The Florida Gators picked up their 7th commitment of the Class of 2022 on Sunday when one of the Gators official visitors committed to Florida.

Linebacker Shemar James (6-2, 205, Mobile, AL. Faith Academy) committed to the Gators over Alabama and Auburn on Sunday following his official visit.

100% committed,” James tweeted.

James visited Gainesville this past weekend with his mom and was hosted by Mohamoud Diabate while on campus and feel love with the Gators campus.

Heading into the visit Florida had the edge for James because of the works of linebackers coach Christian Robinson and analyst Chase Clark who have made the linebacker a priority for months now.

James who plays both linebacker and running back in high school is expected to play inside linebacker for the Gators but has the ability to play any of three linebacker positions.

Last season James led Faith Academy to the semifinals for the first time in school history and recorded 70 tackles and seven sacks while also rushing for five touchdowns and catching eight touchdowns.

James joins defensive back Julian Humphrey and defensive lineman Francois Nolten as members of the defensive class of 2022.
