The Southeastern Conference has suspended all in-person activities through at least May 31.
The SEC had previously suspended all in-person activity through April 15 but extended that period on Friday as the country continues to deal with COVID-19.
This includes practice, meetings, organized gatherings ¬— voluntary or mandatory — based on public health advisories related to continuing developments with coronavirus.
Earlier this week the SEC reversed a ruling that prohibited virtual contact pertaining to football. This new ruling will allow coaches to contact players and review film, hold meetings and go over schemes for up to four hours per week.
The league will also continue to allow universities to provide athletes with support “in areas including academics, medical care, mental health, nutrition and housing as needed.”
Currently Nick Savage and his strength and conditioning staff have been in contact with the players after sending them home with an at-home workout plan. The strength staff has been vigilant and involved with the players on a day-to-day basis but the new ruling will extend that into the entire coaching staff now.
